Smile protection is very important if you want your teen to have a top-notch oral health and smile. This is because there are many things that can attack and harm the teeth and gums, like bacteria, acid, high-contact sports, and more. So, if you want your teen to have the strong and healthy smile they deserve, then our dentist, Dr. Jacob Avner, encourages you to do the following things:

-Make sure they keep up on oral hygiene. For the best protection possible, they should be brushing twice a day (with a soft-bristled toothbrush), flossing once a day (with a tool that’s easy to use), and rinsing with mouthwash daily (with antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash). These things can help your teen clean their smile and prevent dental problems.

-Make sure they wear a mouthguard when they are active. This is important if they participate in sports and activities that are high in contact. When your teen is active, there is a good chance a hard object can hit the mouth and injure the teeth and gums. If your teen wears a mouthguard, the chances of this happening reduce.

-Make sure they attend their routine dental appointments regularly. This is very important because dental checkups help prevent major dental issues, like tooth decay and gum disease. So, make sure they visit our office every six months.
